Fabrication Fashion Show!

Listen to Fashion Show audio clip here.

Organized by designer Rachel Teumim (pictured at right in a dress she made entirely out of men's ties), Fabrication features works from local designers using only re-used materials from sweaters re-incarnate to decks of playing cards. Some designers are veterans of Turners Falls' laundromat fashion show, some are working to make their designs their business, while others are just flexing their creative biceps. Models will strut to the beat of catwalk tracks emceed by Jamie Berger. While items made from re-purposed household items may fall into the less wearable high couture category, others are intended for pedestrian use. Some fabulous one-of-a-kind garment will even be available for purchase! The show will start at 6 pm.

Party!

The Block Party will kick off with a parade at 2 pm, including a dog parade!  Show up with your dog and show him/her off! The parade will be followed by a full day of food, street vendors, kids activities, artists tables, community group tables, music all day long. The Brick House Community Resource Center will also be holding its Healthy Start back to school event at the party with free school supplies, dental screenings ID packs and maybe even a haircut! Southworth Paper Company will have a paper making set up. A special traveling van from the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will be parked at the party providing nature and conservation interpretive programs and contains a variety of environmental education material. Painted on the side of the van is a Massachusetts environmental mural and inside are interesting items including plastic casts of beaver and raptor skulls, animal puppets, rocks, games and other items that tell stories that can engage the public in nature and conservation. Come expecting classic street fare including hot dogs, hamburgers, hand cut fries, pizza, fried dough, snow cones and cotton candy as well as homemade ethnic foods, Panini, chili and more.

• Manning the RiverCulture Table
• Making Parking signs and Bathroom signs and putting them up.
• Setting up stage in early morning
