Photographer John Van de Graaff's exquisite bird photographs will be on exhibit in the Great Hall for the month of September.
The majority of these images are from Massachusetts Audubon's Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary in Westport (just south of New Bedford), where he has visited regularly for the past few years. His photos focus on the birds' characteristic activities, especially the breeding and feeding behaviors of piping plovers and least terns, along with a dozen or so other coastal species. Some fifteen pairs of piping plovers nest at Allens Pond each season, cheek by jowl with up to 200 pairs of least terns.
