Montague is hosting the first Soapbox Race in Franklin County in decades! The gravity-fed (that is, no propulsion of any kind) race will take place at Unity Park in Turners Falls on the 1st Street hill and will include a host of other festivities. Rain or shine, the race will go on!
Three categories of racers will compete: kids (ages 8-12), teens (ages 13-19), and adults (age 20+). All carts must be made from scratch and have a minimum of three wheels, one rider and one run per vehicle. Only 150 applicants accepted. Racers in each age bracket will win trophy cups based on distance or creativity.
Even if you're not participating as a racer, come watch for free! Bring along a picnic lunch or sample the wares of the many local food vendors.
