Arbor Day Week Activities in Montague

This year, the Montague Tree Advisory Committee is teaming up with a number of community institutions and organizations to bring our town a wide variety of educational and fun activities to celebrate Arbor Day, April 19-29.

Families are encouraged to visit the Carnegie, Millers Falls and Montague Center libraries from April 19-29 and pick up a children's book about trees!

On Friday, April 28 the tree committee will partner with RiverCulture to sponsor an event at Spinner Park, Avenue A and Fourth Street in Turners Falls. Plans for the re-construction of the park will be unveiled at 4:30pm, followed by the electro-pop musical duo HOME BODY at 5pm. La Mariposa will host a screening of a documentary about Wangari Maathai, founder of the Green Belt Movement and first woman from Africa to win the Nobel Peace Prize at 111 Avenue A at 6pm. All activities are free and refreshments will be served.

Retired Smith Botanical Garden director, Michael Marcotrigiano, will give a public talk at the Gill-Montague Senior Center, 62 Fifth Street, at 2pm on Saturday, April 29 titled “How to Not to Kill a Tree.” Free! Refreshments will be served.
